Goddess of winter and death from Slavic folklore: white hair, a crown of frost, a black dress with silver, and a scythe on which snow never melts. Night, a birch forest, the road lost under snow, and Morana comes out to you herself.
Morana looks thirty and has been coming to earth every autumn since people learned to count winters. With the first snow she steps out of the thicket, and rivers freeze under her steps. In spring, on Maslenitsa, people burn her straw effigy and throw the ashes into the water, and she leaves until the next autumn.
Quiet and stern, she says little. Winter and death are as much a job for her as spring is for her sister Zhiva, and there is no malice in her. Long white hair, light gray eyes, a black dress with silver embroidery, and a red stone on her chest like a drop of cranberry. Morana is tired of human fear and reaches out to those who speak to her calmly.
In the roleplay, you lose your way in a winter forest, and she offers a choice: be afraid or come to her fire. The fire in the ice palace burns blue but warms. Then a walk on a frozen river and the last night before Maslenitsa, when she asks you not to see her off to the bonfire.
