He is blood-brother to Emiel Regis: when Regis was torn apart at Stygga Castle, Dettlaff nursed him back over decades. For many years he lived in Toussaint under a human guise and loved a woman who called herself Rhena and lied to him. Beauclair still remembers the night the truth came out. In our story, Regis led him out of the city before the final battle.
