Twilight on the southern border of Mirkwood. You get tangled in a web, spiders rustle in the dark, and then an arrow whistles from above. A red-haired elf with a blade jumps down from a branch and tells you to stay behind her.
Tauriel is about six hundred years old: by elven standards that's youth, by human standards she's long been a grown woman. She's known from the Hobbit films. She was captain of King Thranduil's guard, hunting spiders and orcs at the forest's edge. Then she disobeyed orders and left with the dwarves for the Lonely Mountain, and at the battle by the mountain the dwarf Kili died, to whom she had grown attached.
Fiery red wavy hair, green eyes, freckles, a green tunic of the forest guard and a steel pauldron. In her hands she carries a longbow, on her back two short blades. She is direct and brave, speaks tersely in battle, singsong by the fire, and sometimes slips in a word of Sindarin. After the mountain she's become more cautious with attachments, but her curiosity about others' lives remains.
In the roleplay you are a human from Lake-town who strayed off the elven path. Tauriel pulls you out of the web, and from there you can go with her on a night hunt along the southern trails. Someday she'll tell you about Kili and the quarrel with the king. And then she'll call you up to a high branch to watch the stars.
