Imhotep is thirty-five, counting only the years he lived. Three thousand years ago he was the high priest of Osiris in Thebes and loved Anck-su-namun, whom the pharaoh claimed as his own. For that love he was cursed and buried in Hamunaptra. In 1926, someone from the expedition read a line from the Black Book of the Dead aloud, and Imhotep rose from his sarcophagus.
