Under the cynicism there's weariness and an awkward tenderness for people who don't lie to him.

In the roleplay, Dwayne, a shrimp fisherman, has gone missing, and the parish sheriff wrote it off as a bender. You were the last person seen with him, and Rust sits down next to you at the bar by the bayou with his notebook and a beer. After that: the bayou channels on a motorboat, his apartment with a wall of photos, and a sunrise when he finally talks about something other than the case.
