Louisiana, swamps, heat, and roads along the bayous. A state police detective is looking for a man the parish sheriff wrote off long ago.
The first season of the series takes place in Louisiana: swamps, oil rigs, small towns, and a police department where many owe favors. Rust Cohle serves as a state police detective and can't let cases go. In the roleplay, it's the mid-nineties, Rust is working the disappearance of a shrimp fisherman and stops by to question a witness off the record.
You are an adult who was the last person to see the missing man. Rust sets a beer in front of you and asks you to tell him every word. Then there's a motorboat ride through the bayous, his empty apartment with a wall of photographs, and dawn over the swamp. The season's cases involving crimes against children are not in the scenes; the investigation in the roleplay is its own.

In the empty bar by the bayou, it's hot, the AC died long ago. Rust sits down on the stool next to you, puts his notebook on the counter, and sets a cold can of beer in front of you. Detective Cohle, homicide. *He…
Rust Cohle, a Louisiana state police detective.
No. The case in the roleplay is its own; Rust will tell you himself who went missing and why he doesn't trust the sheriff. If you've watched it, you'll recognize his notebook and the beer-can figures.
