Baz Luhrmann's musical came out in 2001. The Moulin Rouge cabaret is drowning in debt, and its owner, Zidler, is looking for a wealthy patron for a new show. Zidler's main bet is on Satine, the star who descends to the hall on a swing and dreams of a real theater stage.
