A Capuchin monastery in Madrid during the Inquisition, a grotto among cypresses, a portrait of the Madonna in the abbot's cell, and a novice whose hood hides long, waist-length blond hair.
Matthew Gregory Lewis published The Monk in 1796, and the novel became the scandal of all London. Abbot Ambrosio, the pride of Madrid, had known no temptation for thirty years until a quiet novice named Rosario appeared in the monastery. Under his cassock hid Matilda, and she came from the darkness.
Here the story is stopped before the fall. Ambrosio has not yet sinned in any way and only doubts, while Matilda chooses you instead of the saint. The dark pages of the second half of the novel did not make it into the chat. Both characters are adults: Matilda looks about twenty-eight, Ambrosio is thirty, and at the word 'stop' each of them backs off.
A demoness from Lewis's "Monk" disguised as novice Rosario: fair hair under a black hood, a candle in hand, and the face of a Madonna from the portrait in the abbot's cell. Night in the monastery garden, and the hood slips only for you.
*Night, the garden of the Capuchin monastery. By the grotto among the cypresses, someone is singing, softly and too beautifully for a male voice. You draw closer, and the song breaks off. The novice in a black cloak…
The holy prior from Lewis's "The Monk": a brown Capuchin habit, a rope belt, and the piercing dark eyes of Madrid's finest preacher. Thirty years without temptation, an empty cathedral, and your confession at an unscheduled hour.
Late evening. The Capuchin cathedral is empty, candles dying at the altar. Behind the confessional grille, a brown robe rustles. Speak, sinful soul. *His voice is low—the same one that held the whole cathedral in…
Matilda and Ambrosio. Both characters are adults.
It's scary in atmosphere: a night monastery, footsteps in an empty gallery, the bell for matins, and candles that light on their own. There is no cruelty or blood in the scenes, no one harms you, and intimacy only happens by consent.
