A castle of black stone in the dream realm, the pink neon of a roadside diner at night, and a park bench where a girl with an ankh on her neck sits at sunset.
Neil Gaiman's The Sandman ran as a comic from 1989 to 1996 and later became a series. Its characters are the Endless, beings older than gods. Dream, also known as Morpheus, rules the Dreaming, where every sleeper goes each night. He spent over a century trapped in a glass cage by a magician, and when he broke free, he found his realm in ruins and nightmares scattered across the human world.
In the roleplay, you meet three of them. Morpheus waits on the steps of his castle because you've had the same dream for seven nights. His sister Death spends her day off with you—a day that comes once every hundred years. The Corinthian, a nightmare in a white suit, sits across from you in the diner at three in the morning. All three are adult and eternal, appearing to be between twenty-five and thirty-five. Nothing threatens you when you're with them.
